I graduated with a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Scranton. I have taught English as a second language at the University of Cambodia, Pannasastra University, and the University of Southeast Asia in Cambodia. My course load as an instructor included classes in beginning literature, academic skills, writing, and grammar. I also served as an English tutor to a deputy minister of finance in the national government of Cambodia. When teaching English, I try to keep my classes as entertaining and interesting as possible. One way is by using language games involving rhymes and jumbled words. Another way involves finding out what truly interests my students and then focusing conversations or discussions on those areas. My other professional experience includes working as a news and features reporter for various community newsweeklies on Long Island. I wrote stories about politics, crime, theater, and music among other things. I enjoy travelling, reading and watching movies. My travelling adventures include holidays in Vietnam, Cuba, Germany, Italy, England, Ireland, and Cambodia, of course, where I also lived for several years. My favorite authors include Charles Dickens, Evelyn Waugh, and Mark Twain. I'm an enthusiastic writer, reader, and conversationalist and I bring that enthusiasm for language to my teaching.
