Born and growing up in the amazing city of London, I went on to graduate with a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Exeter University. After a few years working on environmental projects, I trained as a teacher and taught in schools for 36 years, 18 of them as a headteacher/principal. I love teaching, education, and the impact it can have on bettering people’s lives. I have energy, positivity, and am highly motivated to contribute to your learning of English. You will find me to be friendly, humorous, patient, and considerate. I will listen, encourage, and engage with you, seeking to personalise your learning with fun, yet productive tasks. Many years ago I moved to Leicester, the UK’s most diverse city. We have amazing festivals, culture, and celebrations. I have taken a new career direction and am tutoring students in the UK in English and mathematics. I am excited now to use this experience in teaching ESL to students from across the world. I am an enthusiast and enjoy many hobbies and pastimes, such as sport, reading novels, cooking, exercise, gardening, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. My love of the English language has led me to write my own book about my sporting and life experiences. I am a massive football fan, supporting West Ham United and Leicester City in the English Premier League. I read regularly and am part of a book club that discusses recently released novels. Cooking is another passion of mine and I specialise in Italian, Indian, and Thai cuisine. After all of that eating and loving the fresh air, I run several times a week and enjoy walking in the countryside. Gardening is a recent interest of mine, as during the Covid-19 lockdown I have led a local community group in creating garden areas that the elderly and vulnerable can use. During our UK lockdown, I have also been working as a volunteer in the Health Service. World news fascinates me and I love to discuss the topics of the day. I am excited at the prospect of meeting you, talking about your interests, and working with you to enhance your English language skills. It will be great fun.
